Applescript to Browse Full Screen

after.jpg

I’m dipping my toe into code lately. I’m playing primarily in Automator and Applescript but also recently ordered a visual C book. Regardless, I found an excellent script at the Apple web site that allows you to put your finder window in full screen mode and hide the dock. This is really nice for cover-flow browsing. Check it out.

Thanks for this, rather good. However… I accidentally also installed in on Tiger and though it failed and I deleted it once a day I get an error message in a dialog box headed “Browse Full Screen. Can’t make > of of application “System Events” into type reference” with edit and OK buttons but Edit isn’t available. I have to Force Quit through Activity Monitor.

Any idea what I have to do to get rid of this?

Works well on Leopard though šŸ™‚

OK I’ve found a problem with this in Leopard. You can’t toggle Full Screen Browse without also toggling off auto hide the Dock which I can’t live without so I guess this will have to go.

I think we’re at cross purposes. I want the Dock hidden automatically – even before the ugly 3d version šŸ˜‰ . When I toggle full screen on the Dock remains hidden but when I toggle it off the Dock appears. If you keep the Dock Sys Pref window open you’ll see that on exiting fullscreen the auto button is toggled off meaning I have to go back into Sys Pref to re-enable it.

Whoever wrote this needs an extra routine to leave the Dock settings untouched. A pity there’s no contact email on the app’s download page.

Oddly enough even though it installed fine etc whenever I open a browser window instead of the Full Screen icon I see a question mark and only after clcking it do I get the Full Screen icon. Not that important but may be relevant.

Thanks for the reply and the website – much enjoyed.
