This time MacHeist has changed its business plan. For $49 you get Awaken, Cha-Ching, CoverSutra, DevonThink Personal, iClip, Overflow, Wallet, WriteRoom, XSlimmer, Enigmo, Budgom 2, and Nanosaur 2. They plan to release a boxed version at some point. Gone is the tiered system where more purchases gets more software. Also gone is a really stellar title to suck me in. (Last time it was Pixelmator). There are a few of the applications that seem interesting to me (WriteRoom and iClip) but I must admit I’m feeling a bit underwhelmed with this MacHeist outing. I’m not sure if I’ll bite this time around.
Novel idea I guess to capitalise on all the marketing momentum created by their excellent ‘Heists’. As I have all but the games I’ll pass, however, its a great way for switchers to buy some Mac apps.

I completely agree with you. This one just doesnt catch me, especially because i already have some of the apps from macheist II. I feel similarly about the april 08 macupdate bundle. There is really nothing in there i want or need. However, I saw the ad they had in MacLife mag and the July 2007 bundle looked amazing! Tech Tool Pro, Little Snitch, Cocktail, I would buy that if I could just for those 3!!! O well.

To me 25% duplication is a threshold. If they duplicate more than 25% of the same apps (unless there’s been a major update), then it doesn’t make sense.
Start with a killer app like Scriver… add Tech Tool Pro, Little Snitch, Cocktail and keep going from there. Toss in the couple bonus apps that just missed the quantity last time… add the bonus apps that not every got for referrals too and you’ve got a killer bundle again.
