I’ve started preparing an outline for my Macworld synchronization session and stumbled upon GoodSync, a $30 solution for syncing files on multiple devices.
GoodSync handles synchronization over multiple devices directly connected or over the Internet such as FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, and Amazon S3. There are both Windows and Mac OS X versions.
Most backup and synchronization software fails at the user interface. They are difficult to understand and impenetrable by mere mortals. Thankfully, this isn’t the case with GoodSync which, from the very first time you open it, walks you through the process of syncing files.

David,
Have you found a way to move instead of mirror data. I would love to create data on a laptop and move that data to a desktop Mac. Basically I am stuck deleting my copied files on the laptop that have been copied to the desktop. Any suggestions for a good solution for this ?

Dropbox and Hazel would be great for this. Drop the files in a dropbox folder on the MacBook and have hazel on the iMac move and delete them.

Does anyone have experience/recommendation with the various sync programs to include superflexible file synchronizer, synk 7, etc?
Cem – do you have something in mind you want to achieve or do you just want guidance on the software?

Lee – just wanted others opinions on various programs. I am looking to something easy like dropbox but for local networked computers without 50-100GB limit that dropbox has. I have used superflexible file synchronizer but recently discovered Synk v7 which seems good but is costly $60. I am trying goodsync now…and it seems pretty good. I want something automated and running in the background but worry about excessive CPU and memory use. Any suggestions, comments would be appreciated.
Looking forward to your Class! Also really enjoying your new Book. Great Job!
Dennis
Anyone tried Goodsync v9 yet? Seems like not much is changed in it compared to the older version.
