MPU 218: MPU Live, A Festival of Skeuomorphism

This month’s live show is ready for download. We’re joined by Luke Soules of iFixit to talk about iPhone 6 repairability and follow-up on our own experiences with the iPhone and iOS 8. We also discuss security concerns and FileVault, review listener feedback and workflows in Education and review tips on a variety of topics including uses for TextExpander, automated filing services, and travel.

MPU 216: iOS 8 Developer Roundtable

In this week’s Mac Power Users episode we interview Ken Case (Omni Group), Greg Scown (Smile), and Dave Teare (1Password) about the wild ride they’ve been on since WWDC and the big changes they’ve been able to make in their applications with iOS 8. This is the first time we’ve done a developer roundtable and it came out great. We’ll be doing more of these in the future.

MPU 215: iOS 8

In the latest installment of the Mac Power Users, Katie and I cover our favorite features in the latest version of iOS. There is a lot to cover here and I think we did a pretty good job of it. As an aside, I’ve got several posts going up this week about iOS 8. I’m really digging it and it is already changing my game.

MPU 214: Back To School

Katie is going back to school and I’m sending my daughter off to college. As a result, we’ve been both thinking a lot about student workflows. In our most recent show we cover some excellent Mac and iPad based solutions and share several ideas from listeners.

MPU 213: Principal Mike and Listener Feedback

MPU 213 is up and available for download. This month’s feedback show includes a short workflow interview with K-8 principal Mike Rogers from TechEdvance. Mike shares some really cool Drafts workflows for classroom evaluations that could be adapted to a lot of uses. We also had plenty of feedback on task management and other topics from the the last month. These live shows are a lot of fun and information dense. We’re getting lots of positive feedback about them. Check it out.

MPU 212: Networking

We just posted episode 212 of the Mac Power Users where Bradley Chambers joins us to talk about networking your home. Wired and wireless networking is always something of a moving target and this episode does a great job of getting you up to speed as wireless technologies exist today.

MPU 210: Task Management

Katie and I cover task management in 2014 including simple solutions, web-based solutions, and OmniFocus. In this show, I talk about my tricks for keeping my task list short with a willingness to delete items and active defer-date management. Since this show went live, I’ve received a mixture of emails telling me I’m brilliant or crazy with nothing in between. I’ll probably be writing on this in the not so distant future.
